Salt Lake City Marathon Aid Station #44 and #97 DONE!

A group of us from KPMG volunteered to help at one of the aid stations for the Salt Lake City Marathon. I can now mark off #44. Do something locally, I've never done before (and that can only be done here)! We were at station two at mile 3. Our group was paired up with another group. We got there to set up at 5:00 am. We filled lots and lots of water and Gatorade cups.

Linda and two of her grandkids.

Me and Mom. My mom took the fun bus to Wendover last night. She got home just as I was heading up to the station and decided to head up. Way to pull an all nighter. I guess I won't call ya old lady for awhile. I'm glad you came. Thanks, Mom!

Here come the runners! Being at mile 3, they pretty much all came in one big rush. We were done by 8:15.

Handing out water.

The messy result.

Back Row: Mom, Kim, Cameron, Terry, The Cheng's.
Front Row: Me, Kristine, Megan, Linda and her grandkids
It was fun seeing all the bikers, runners, and walkers come by. Maybe one day, I will do at least part of that. 26 miles just sounds insane to me. Maybe a 5K? We'll see. It was a fun morning and I am thankful that I was able to come home and sleep and take care of Murphy. I can also say that #97. Love my job, don't dread going to work in the morning! is done.

Hey, I didn't realize you worked for an accting firm. Ivan works for PwC here in the Bay Area.

That 5K is a good idea - a good start. A marathon is VERY long. I ran one back in 2004 and I don't think I will ever run another one again unless it is for a good cause. (Losing weight or getting into shape is not a good enough. I mean, I could start with my diet and just get my butt to the gym.) However, I will say that I do enjoy the half marathons when my knee isn't hurting. They are much easier and not so long.

Thanks for inviting me! I'm so glad I ended up going with you(or meeting you there). It was worth the all-nighter! You work with a fun group of people. They all seemed very nice and I'm happy you like your job! Ok...next challenge...the 5K. We can do it!! Right??!! Oh yeah, and if it wasn't an overcast morning, you could have checked off watching the sun rise! But that will be a good one for another day! I'm proud of you! Keep working on the list! I still can't believe I was helping with a marathon that early in the morning. For people that don't know me... I am definitely not a morning person! It was worth it and lots of fun. I really admire all those involved whether volunteering, running, biking or walking! Great job!
