This Fourth of July, I spent with my mom. I am house/dog sitting this weekend. I have not only Murphy to take care of, but also Bob and Bruce the Beagles. Sleeping in was not possible. Murphy woke me up at midnight and wouldn't go back to sleep, so I took him out and then but his kennel by Bruce. He slept like a baby after that. By sleeping like a baby, I mean he woke me up again at 6:30 to go get up for the morning to play. Then, all 3 of them woke me up again at 8:30 to eat. I'm telling you dogs are like babies, only worse??? Don't get me wrong, I love them all, but they are a lot of work. Well, I couldn't sleep after that. I just laid around until Mom called and was ready to play.
We went to the Sandy City Festivities. Walked around and amazingly our only purchase was an iced, sugar free coffee. Can I just tell you that I have been craving one of these for weeks. I can never get out of the house early enough to grab one before work. So, this was simply divine! After walking around the booths, trying on sunglasses and shoes, watching some amazing talent at the Radio Disney booth (hoola hooping and Hannah Montana dance moves and singing), and getting a free 5 minute massage (how can you pass up a free minute massage?), Mom left to go see a movie with Joey. I went back to Julie's and read for a couple hours.
After the movie, Joey went to work and Mom came back. Now you would think that stores would be having sales and stay open for all the people out and about on a day like today, but noooo. After driving through the parking lots of IKEA, a couple furniture stores, Shopko and Tai Pan, we went to Kmart to make a return and get some doggy treats. Then to Chili's for dinner, and then to Target. We didn't end up getting what we were looking for, which was a nice picture for Mom's kitchen wall, but we did have a blast. We walked out of Target just in time to watch the Sandy fireworks from the parking lot. Ooooooh, Aaaaaah!
I love spending this kind of day with my mom. We always have a good time and lots of laughs. I've really had a good time staying with her while Luke has been gone. We stayed up way to late the first week chatting til we couldn't keep our eyes open any longer, but it was well worth it. And Joey has been entertaining too. He's Murphy's best buddy. Joey lets him climb all over him and Murph just loves him. So, thanks Mom and Joey for everything! I love you guys!
